Dr. Oliver Florica, MD FRACS, is a highly respected Australian surgeon with a rich international background. He has been honored as an Alumni Ambassador by Carol Davila University.

He graduated from "Lazar College" in Bucharest in 1984 and completed his medical degree at Carol Davila University in 1990, the same institution where Romanian Nicolae Paulescu discovered insulin and where Nobel laureate George Palade and Aurel Babes who discovered the test for cervical cancer studied.

After an internship in Romania, he trained in surgical specialties in South Africa before relocating to Australia, where he completed his accredited surgical training in 2002.

Throughout his career, Dr. Florica has achieved notable milestones, including performing a life-saving emergency surgery on the President of Nauru in 2003, pioneering minimally invasive surgical techniques, and becoming one of the first general surgeon in Australia to utilize the Da Vinci robot for hernia repairs. He has an exemplary professional record, having no reported deaths or lawsuits in over 20 years of practice.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Florica is an aviation enthusiast, owning several aircraft and completing an unthinkable trans-Pacific flight in a single-engine plane. He has been recognized by patients and was nominated for Australian of the Year in 2019. Dr. Florica expresses deep gratitude for those who have inspired him and values his journey, reflecting on both its challenges and triumphs.
